Opening 🌴
of the new studios in Vendargues
DELPHINE ERNOTTE CUNCI
PRESIDENT AND CEO OF THE FRANCE TELEVISIONS GROUP
“
Madam Prefect,
Madam Member of Parliament,
Mr. President of Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole,
Mr. Mayor,
Representatives of the Occitanie Region,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is a great pleasure to welcome you here to V Studios, in these new facilities that we refer to within France Télévisions as “V2,” as they mark a new chapter in our journey in Vendargues.
Eight years ago, France Télévisions chose to establish itself here, in the Montpellier metropolitan area, to produce its new daily drama series, Un si grand soleil. The show has since become the most-watched daily series in France and offers, every evening, a remarkable showcase for this region.
The studios we created here have continued to grow, not only around this flagship production but also through the many other projects we host. We are proud to have firmly anchored ourselves within the flourishing ecosystem of cultural and creative industries in Occitanie. I would like to commend the outstanding work of the teams at France TV Studio and the FTV production design and construction teams, who have contributed to the growth of V Studios, now a major hub of activity and an innovation-driven space open to all players in the creative industries.
When, in 2022, the “La Grande Fabrique de l’Image” call for projects was launched as part of the France 2030 investment plan, we were determined to seize this opportunity to further our commitment and continue expanding our studios, building upon our initial site.
We developed a project aligned both with the potential of this location and with the growing demand for production capacity that we anticipated. Just over two years after being selected as a laureate of La Grande Fabrique de l’Image, and only fifteen months after the planting of the first palm tree—symbolizing the ecological ambition of our studios—two new buildings have now emerged, set within a true natural setting.
I would like to warmly thank Laurence Schwob, who led this project in partnership with Proudreed, with remarkable efficiency. Thanks to her leadership, these studios are the first project awarded under La Grande Fabrique de l’Image to be completed and operational. I also wish to thank all our public and private partners for their commitment alongside us, which has enabled this ambition to become reality.
The two new buildings we are inaugurating this morning offer four additional sound stages, complementing those of our original site. We designed them to be versatile, capable of accommodating a wide range of projects—from television drama and cinema to advertising, live audience shows, and even video game production. They meet the highest technical and environmental standards and are largely powered by energy generated from our on-site photovoltaic plant. We are also delighted that these studios will soon be directly connected to central Montpellier through the upcoming Bustram line.
These studios embody our strong commitment to supporting creation across France. This is a long-term commitment, enabling us to build lasting partnerships with stakeholders throughout the region and to foster training pathways that create employment and career opportunities within this sector. Serving as a driving force for our cultural and creative industries—industries that are a unique source of economic activity and attractiveness for all territories—is one of our core public service missions.
We are particularly pleased to see this mission taking shape so successfully here in Occitanie.
We remain highly ambitious for this site, as a further phase of development may be implemented in the future, ultimately doubling our original production capacity once these new studios reach full operational capacity.
We therefore invite all professionals in these sectors to fully embrace the opportunities offered by these studios and to invest in these spaces to bring their creative visions to life.
